Save the Boundary Waters
A public lands icon lies in northeastern Minnesota, tucked away from the busy world: The Boundary Waters.
Spanning 1.1 million acres, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness has delighted outdoor adventurers and nurtured wilderness-edge communities for more than a century. It is the most-visited Wilderness Area in the country, and its waters are among the world’s cleanest. But it’s under threat. Proposed sulfide-ore copper mining within the Boundary Waters’ watershed would spoil a natural landmark and economic lifeline.
The Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters leads the fight to protect the Boundary Waters permanently. I cultivate the campaign’s online presence by creating digital content for web and social media.

One of my first tasks at the Save the Boundary Waters was a complete redesign of our page about the region’s ecosystem. Prior to my arrival, the page simple featured three tiled images of some of the Boundary Waters’ most iconic species. I focused on painting a holistic picture of the ecosystem that would engage users all the way to the bottom. Thanks to the Typeform quiz I created, we’ve got proof that visitors devour this page. All the answers to the quiz can be found without going anywhere else, and our average score is nearly 80%.
